G.P Registration: In order to register with a G.P simply go along to any surgery, if their books are not full then you can be registered with that surgery, you will then be allocated an NHS number that will make it easier to trace your medical records in the future. If you are going to be within the vicinity for 3 months or longer you will be registered on a permanent basis, if you will be moving on then you can be accepted for Temporary Treatment with that surgery.

If they are unable to register you, then they should either direct you to a G.P who is able to accept you onto their books or alternatively supply you with details of the Local Health Authority to whom you should write to request G.P registration. You should be allocated a G.P within the week.

In a clinical emergency a G.P is required to see you whether you are registered or not for Immediate Necessary Treatment.
