Ask your MP to sign our pledge card

Would you like to see your MP standing up for the rights of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in parliament?

You can ask them to challenge the discrimination and inequalities faced by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities with our pledge card.

With the pledge card, your MP can commit to:

  • stand up against discrimination faced by Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities
  • work to ensure members of Gypsy and Traveller communities have a place to live

Ask your MP to sign the pledge card with these four simple steps:

Order a pledge card using the sign up form at the bottom of this page or by printing the pledge card.

Download the pledge card.

Find out who your MP is and what their contact details are.

You should contact your MP at their constituency office, which is an office in your local area where they meet with local constituents (like you!) to hear their concerns and help them to resolve any issues they are facing. Find out who your MP is and their contact details here.

Want to check if your MP has signed the pledge? Find out here.

Send your MP a letter, an email or make a phone call asking them to discuss the pledge card.

Make sure to mention that you are one of their constituents (which just means that you live in their area - whether this is all year around or just parts of the year).

When speaking with your MP, tell them why you think it is important that they stand up for Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people in their area and in parliament. Ask them to sign the pledge card and encourage them to post a picture of this on social media using the hashtag #WelcomeHere.

Top tip: If you have a fixed address in the area, make sure to include this in the letter. If you don't have a fixed address in the area, be sure to say you don't have a fixed address but do live in the area.

Download a template letter to send to your MP here.

Post the pledge card back to Friends Families and Travellers, Community Base, 113 Queens Road, Brighton, BN1 3XG.

We will make an online list of all MPs who sign up to the pledge card and ensure that MPs are given practical information on how they can use their position to advance the rights of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities.

Give yourself a pat on the back - well done! Maybe even have a cup of tea and a biscuit to celebrate. Don't be afraid to share your success with your friends and family - maybe they will be inspired to follow in your footsteps?
