Band 1 Treatment

  • Examples: Clinical examination, adjusting braces, X-rays

Band 2 Treatment

  • Cost: £73.50
  • Examples: Fillings, root canal treatment, oral surgery

Band 3 Treatment

  • Cost: £319.10
  • Examples: Bridges, crowns, braces, dentures

You can get free dental treatment if you:

  • Are under 18
  • Are under 19 and in full-time education
  • Are pregnant
  • Have given birth in the last twelve months
  • Have a valid HC2 certificate

You might also get free or reduced-cost treatment if you have a low income and receive benefits like:

  • Income Support
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Pension Credit Guarantee Credit
  • Universal Credit (if you meet the criteria)
  • Contact your dentist for urgent treatment.
  • If you don’t have a dentist or it is out of hours, call NHS 111 for the nearest out-of-hours dental service.
  • Emergency treatment costs £26.80 unless you’re eligible for free treatment.
  • Go to A&E if you have heavy bleeding, face/mouth/tooth injuries, or severe swelling of the mouth, lips, throat, neck, or eyes.
