Advice for Advisors portal launched for organisations and advocates supporting members of Gypsy and Traveller communities

We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Advice for Advisors portal for organisations and advocates who support Gypsy and Traveller communities.  The portal is free to access and provides guidance for advocates supporting members of Gypsy and Traveller communities on issues including planning, education, health, accommodation and discrimination.

We have offered advice and advocacy to Gypsy and Traveller communities for over twenty years. In our early days, our advice line was manned by volunteers 24-hours per day who were able to offer moral support and practical help and advice where possible. Over the years, thanks to the help of our generous funders and passionate caseworkers, we have developed a bona fide advocacy service with a specialist knowledge in issues faced by Gypsy and Traveller communities.

The Advice for Advisors portal shares popular pieces of advice and casework which we are regularly asked for support with. We are pleased to be share this wealth of experience with other organisations and advocates. We will be adding to this resource over time, with new pieces of advice and templates from our case work and case studies. We would like to thank The Baring Foundation for their funding which made this portal possible.

Speaking about the portal, Sarah Mann, Director of Friends Families and Travellers, said:

“We hope that this tool will help more organisations and advocates around the country to ensure that Gypsies and Travellers know and are able to fully exercise their rights around health, education, accommodation and more.”

If you would like access to the portal, please message [email protected]
