Win £50 voucher in YTT and FFT’s Tiktok competition

On Wednesday 22nd July, Friends Families and Travellers and Youth Travellers’ Times announced they have teamed up to invite anyone between the ages of 13 to 21 to take part in our #ProudGRT TikTok competition. The competition asks young Gypsies, Roma and Travellers to record their family’s ‘oral history’ for the chance to win a £50 voucher of their choice.

The competition aims to celebrate Gypsy, Roma and Traveller life and culture, by asking young people from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities to provide an insight into the ways they celebrate their heritage and culture.

TikTok is a video-sharing social media app that is used to create videos ranging from dance to lip-syncs to comedy. If you’re unfamiliar with the app, or need some tips on how to use it, check out this website. TikTok submissions can take any format, as long as they’re filmed through the TikTok app and use the hashtag #ProudGRT

Entrants can celebrate however they’d like, but they’re also welcome to answer these questions:

  • Name three things you didn’t know about your grandparents before today.
  • Name three things you didn’t know about your family history before today.
  • What makes you most proud about your heritage?
  • What is a traditional dance in your community?

If entrants are aged 13 – 16, please post the videos privately. If you’re 16 and above, you can post either privately, or publically.

You can submit by sharing the video on Tik Tok or if you would rather share privately, you can whatsapp your submission to +44 7425 419853

The competition closes on 14th August.
