FFT awarded funding by the Equality and Human Rights Commission for Access to Justice Project

We have been awarded a grant from the Equality and Human Rights Commission for a short-term project ‘Access to Justice’.

Friends, Families & Travellers is working with Citizens Advice Bureau at Chiltern in Buckinghamshire and Ash in Surrey to improve the quantity and quality of advice services for discrimination and human rights issues for Gypsies, Roma and Travellers.

The project will work to increase the cultural competency of advice services for Gypsies, Roma and Travellers, which will in turn support access to these services by building trust.

The aim will be achieved through the allocation of extra resources and training and by reviewing casework collaboratively with the project partners. There will be a particular emphasis placed on the availability of advice and referral routes. Core themes will be identified and developed based on the casework review which relate to discrimination and human rights issues.  The learning gained from this project will provide a valuable resource for a broad set of organisations who work with Gypsies, Roma and Travellers.

Project duration dates: 08.01.2018 – 12.04.2018
