Disabled People from Gypsy & Traveller groups: Make your voices heard: (posted 14 May 2008)
It’s not always easy to deal with everything in life if you have a long term health condition or disability. Some things can feel out of your
control or impossible to access. This can sometimes be made more difficult by other cultural barriers such as negative attitudes, ignorance and language.
At Norfolk Coalition of Disabled People, we know how frustrating it can sometimes be for individuals, their family and carers to get the things they need.
We want to hear from disabled people who belong to different cultures and lifestyles. Tell us about your experiences, both good and bad. We’d like to know about the things that make you happy in your life and the things that anger or frustrate you. We also want to know about the good ideas you have of how to improve things in your life too!
We have developed a short anonymous questionnaire to help us find out what would make people’s lives better. The valuable information you give us will be used to help local service providers such as Health, and Education develop new, improved services which are easier to access and use.
With your help, we can start to shape these new services to provide the things that people really want in their lives - services that can adapt and respond to our own individual needs.
